Browser tools (WebMCP)

The tools the Vidext app registers for an agent running inside the browser, on the sign-in page and on signed-in pages.

Some browsers and browser agents let a web page register tools for an agent to call, through the proposed WebMCP interface (document.modelContext). The Vidext app registers a small set when that interface is present. Without it, nothing is registered and the pages work as usual.

These tools run in the page, as the person using the browser. They are separate from the Operator MCP server: nothing here needs an OAuth connection.

On the sign-in page

Four read-only tools, available before anyone signs in. Each takes no arguments and returns one public discovery document as text:

ToolReturns
vidext.get_product_context/llms.txt: what Vidext does, its MCP tools, and links to every machine-readable resource.
vidext.get_mcp_discovery/.well-known/mcp: the Operator server's endpoint, transport, protocol versions, OAuth metadata, and tool names.
vidext.get_developer_guide/developers: OAuth onboarding, rate limits, error handling, environments, and versioning.
vidext.get_agent_auth_guide/auth.md: the headless agent-registration flow.

In the app

Six tools, registered on the app's pages. They act on the active organization (the one in the page URL, or the person's current one) unless the agent passes organizationSlug. The tools that need an organization fail with an error when nobody is signed in.

ToolArgumentsWhat it does
vidext.get_page_contextnoneReturns whether someone is signed in, the active organization slug, the locale, the current path, and the open module's ID when there is one. Read-only.
vidext.open_home_chatorganizationSlug (optional)Opens the authoring chat at the organization's Home, or the sign-in page when there is no active organization.
vidext.list_modulesorganizationSlug, limit (optional; default 10, at most 25)Returns recent modules the person can see: id, name, description, createdAt, updatedAt, plus a nextCursor. Read-only.
vidext.create_moduleorganizationSlug, name (optional; default "Untitled Module")Creates an empty module, in no course, and opens it. See below.
vidext.open_modulemoduleId (required), organizationSlugOpens the module's page.
vidext.open_invite_dialogorganizationSlugOpens the organization's members settings with the invite dialog showing. It does not send any invitation.

create_module makes an empty module

vidext.create_module creates a module with only a name: no sources, no script, no scenes, and no course. It does not plan or build anything. Courses and their modules are built in the chat by Vidext's agents. Only admins and members can create modules; for anyone else the call fails.

The list_modules here is a browser convenience and is not the Operator tool of the same name: it returns different fields and works only in a signed-in page.
