Taking a module

A module plays itself: when a scene's narration finishes, the next one starts. Everything below is about taking that control back when you want it.

Play and pause

The play and pause control sits in the bar at the bottom of the player. Space does the same thing from anywhere on the page.

Playback stops on its own at a scene that requires an answer, and stays stopped until you answer it. See Knowledge checks.

Moving around

• Next and previous move one scene at a time — the arrow controls, or the left and right arrow keys.
• Navigation opens the list of chapters and scenes so you can jump instead of stepping. Cmd/Ctrl + B toggles it.

Scenes you haven't unlocked yet stay hidden until you clear the check in front of them.

Speed

Playback settings holds Playback speed — from 0.5x to 3x, in steps of 0.25. Cmd/Ctrl + right arrow speeds up, Cmd/Ctrl + left arrow slows down.

Your choice is remembered on that device for the next module you open.

Subtitles

Subtitles are generated for all narration and are off by default. Turn them on, or back off, from Playback settings, or press C. This is remembered too.

Reading the narration

The side panel labelled Deep learning holds the module's full narration as text, grouped by chapter and scene. It:

• follows along as playback moves, marking what you've finished
• jumps playback to that exact moment when you click a line
• answers about a specific word or passage when you select it

It's also the fastest way to review a module you've already finished, and to select a passage to ask about — see Asking questions.

Keyboard shortcuts

Every one of these is also a control you can click — the shortcuts are a shortcut, not the only way in.

When a module ends

The last scene asks What else would you like to know? and opens the tutor for one more question. Back to learning path returns you to your courses.
