Use your ChatGPT plan

Connect your own ChatGPT plan, or one for your whole organization, so Vidext's agents think and write on it in the conversations you start, while pictures, narration, video and web searches stay on Vidext tokens.

If you pay for ChatGPT, you can have Vidext's agents run on your own plan. In the chat conversations you start after connecting, the agents talk with you, plan courses and write modules with the ChatGPT models you choose, and that work counts against your plan's usage instead of your organization's tokens.

An admin can also connect one ChatGPT plan for the whole organization. It runs the conversations of everyone who hasn't connected a plan of their own. See Your organization's plan.

In preview

Using your ChatGPT plan is in preview and is being turned on for organizations gradually. If ChatGPT isn't under Personal in your settings, it isn't on for your organization yet. How it works may still change.

What runs on your plan

The agents' thinking and writing: answering you in the chat, planning courses, writing module scripts and screens, and building interactive scenes. Scheduled agents you own run on your plan too while you're connected, and on the organization's plan when you have none of your own.

Everything else still uses your organization's Vidext tokens, as it does without a plan: pictures, narration and voices, presenter video and other video, the agents' web searches and a few small helper steps. So your organization still needs tokens for the agents to take a turn. See Billing and plans.

Who can connect

Admins and members, the people who can use the chat. Each person connects their own ChatGPT account, and it only runs the conversations that person starts. Only admins connect the organization's plan. Learners and requesters don't see either. If you're removed from the organization, or your role changes to one that can't use the chat, Vidext deletes your own ChatGPT sign-in; the organization's plan stays, even if you connected it.

Connect

Start the sign-in

Open Settings → ChatGPT and choose Connect ChatGPT. ChatGPT's sign-in opens in a new tab. If your browser blocks the tab, use Open the sign-in page.

Sign in and allow Vidext

Sign in to ChatGPT with the account whose plan you want to use, and allow Vidext to use your plan on the consent screen. If you turn sharing off there, nothing is connected.

Paste the address back

After you sign in, your browser shows a page that can't load, at an address starting with http://127.0.0.1:1455/auth/callback. That is expected. Copy the whole address from the address bar, paste it into the field in Settings → ChatGPT, and choose Connect.

The sign-in is valid for 10 minutes. If it runs out, or you start another one, choose Connect ChatGPT again.

Once connected, the page shows the account's email and when you connected it.

Choose the models

Settings → ChatGPT lists a model for each job, chosen from the models your account offers:

  • Main talks with you, plans courses and writes their screens.
  • Writer drafts course plans and module scripts.
  • Scene builder builds the interactive scenes.

Each choice is saved as soon as you make it, and applies the next time a conversation starts, never in the middle of a reply.

Limits

  • Usage limits are your plan's. When your plan reaches its limit, the chat says so and links to your usage in ChatGPT. Vidext can't raise it.
  • A conversation stays with what it started on. A conversation you started before connecting keeps using Vidext's models, and one started on your plan stays on your plan, whichever ChatGPT account you have connected. One started on the organization's plan stays on it too, even if you connect your own later. If your organization turns ChatGPT plans off, conversations that ran on a ChatGPT plan continue on Vidext's models, with your organization's tokens, from their next start.
  • Only you drive a conversation on your plan. If you share it, the people you invite can follow it, but the agents don't take their messages: they are told the conversation runs on your ChatGPT plan. A conversation on the organization's plan takes everyone's messages.
  • Some accounts can't share their plan. If ChatGPT says your account isn't eligible, try an account on another plan, or keep using Vidext's models.

Your organization's plan

An admin connects one ChatGPT account for the whole organization, in the Organization plan section of Settings → ChatGPT, below their own plan. The steps are the same as for your own: choose Connect ChatGPT, sign in with the account whose plan the organization will use, and paste the address back. The page then shows the account, when it was connected and by whom, and a model for each job.

  • Which plan a new conversation uses. Your own plan if it's connected, otherwise the organization's, otherwise Vidext's models. New conversations on the page says which one yours start on now.
  • Who manages it. Only admins can connect it, reconnect it, choose its models or disconnect it, and any admin can do so, whoever connected it. It stays when the admin who connected it leaves the organization.
  • What members see. Which account it is, who connected it, whether its sign-in has expired, and whether their new conversations run on it. They can't change it.
  • Everyone can write in its conversations. A conversation on the organization's plan takes the messages of everyone taking part, not only the person who started it.
  • Usage limits are that account's. All the conversations on it count against the one ChatGPT account, and its limits apply to all of them.

If its sign-in expires, or an admin disconnects it, the conversations on it pause and the chat asks people to have an admin reconnect it. Once an admin connects ChatGPT again, they continue where they stopped. Meanwhile, new conversations run on their starter's own plan or on Vidext's models.

Your sign-in

Vidext stores your ChatGPT sign-in encrypted and uses it only to send the agents' requests for your conversations to OpenAI, which handles them under your ChatGPT account. It never reaches the workspace where the agents run.

If the sign-in expires, Settings → ChatGPT says so and the conversations on your plan pause. Choose Reconnect and sign in with the same account to pick them up where they stopped. To use another account instead, disconnect first, then connect it. The organization's sign-in is stored and reconnected the same way, by an admin.

Disconnect

In Settings → ChatGPT, choose Disconnect and confirm. Vidext deletes your sign-in at once. Conversations that ran on your plan pause until you connect ChatGPT again, with this account or another, and then continue where they stopped. Conversations you start while disconnected use the organization's plan if one is connected, or Vidext's models.

An admin disconnects the organization's plan the same way, from its own Disconnect in the Organization plan section.
