Work together

Share a conversation in the chat with colleagues, see who is there, take turns with Vidext's agents, and tag people in the chat.

You can build a course with colleagues in the same conversation. In the chat, where you tell Vidext's agents what you want to teach, the person who started a conversation — its owner — can invite others to plan and build with them. Everyone sees the same conversation and talks to the same agents.

Share a conversation

Open the conversation and choose Share, at the foot of the list beside it. The Share this conversation panel lists who is In this conversation, then the people you can add.

  • Invite. Choose a name under Add people. The conversation appears in their list under Shared with you, and can also appear in Recent in their sidebar on Home.
  • Who you can invite. Organization admins and members — the people who can use the chat. Learners cannot be invited.
  • How many. Up to 20 people besides you. When the conversation is full, the panel says so.
  • Remove. Take one person off with Remove.
  • Stop sharing. Everyone you invited loses access at once. Their messages stay in the conversation.
  • Copy link. Copies a link to the conversation. Only people in it can open it; anyone else is told it is not shared with them.

Your Main conversation cannot be shared. Start a new conversation to work together.

See who is here

The Share panel shows each person as Here now, Away, or Not here, with the owner marked. The conversation header also shows who else has it open, and whether each person is looking at the conversation itself or at one agent's work.

Take turns

The agents answer one message at a time. While someone else's message is being answered, yours waits in Up next, which says whose turn it comes after; cancel it there if you change your mind. Anyone in the conversation can answer a question the agents ask: the first answer counts, and the card says who answered.

Stop ends only what your own messages started. The owner can also stop anyone's turn, and has Stop everything, which ends the turn in progress, the messages waiting behind it, and all the agents at work.

Tag people

To bring someone in or ask them something, tag them in the chat. In the message box, type @ and pick a name: the list offers your organization's admins and members. Your message gets @Name where you typed it.

You can also type the name yourself, such as @Andoni or @Andoni Enriquez, and send without picking from the list. If only one person goes by that name, they are tagged. If it could be more than one person, or Vidext can't check who it is, nobody is tagged, and Vidext tells you to type @ and pick who you mean.

  • A message with a tag is a note between people. It appears in the conversation for everyone on it, with your name on it, and the agents don't answer it. A message without a tag goes to the agents, as always.
  • With a file or a skill. If the message also carries an attachment or a skill, it goes to the agents. The people you tagged are still added and notified.
  • A tag adds the person. If they are not on the conversation yet, tagging them adds them, as Share would. Anyone on the conversation can do it, not only the owner. The owner can still remove them from the Share panel, and they can leave.
  • They are told in Vidext, and by email if they chose it. A notice, "Name tagged you", appears in their Inbox with your message and opens the conversation. If they have turned on email in their notification preferences, an email goes out right away too, one per tag. See Email notifications.

Only admins and members can be tagged; learners can't. A conversation holds its owner and up to 20 people, so once it is full a tag adds nobody.

Your Main conversation can't be shared, so a tag there adds nobody, and the message box says so. Start a new conversation to tag someone.

Anyone on the conversation can add someone by tagging them, including a person the owner removed earlier. Only the owner removes people.

Not available: a note can't be edited or deleted once sent, and a tag can't be withdrawn. The person stays on the conversation until the owner removes them from the Share panel or they leave. Tags don't notify through Slack or push notifications.

Leave, or lose access

  • If the owner archives the conversation, you can still read it.
  • If the owner stops sharing, the conversation tells you they stopped sharing it with you.
  • If you stop being an admin or member of the organization, you lose access to the chat and every conversation in it.
