Deliver in your LMS (LTI 1.3)

Connect your LMS so teachers can add Vidext modules to their courses and progress flows back to the gradebook.

Use this page if your company already delivers training through a learning management system (LMS) such as Moodle or Canvas, and you want learners to take Vidext modules there instead of in Vidext.

You don't have to choose between the two. Vidext is an LTI 1.3 tool, the standard way LMSs plug in outside content: your LMS opens Vidext modules in place, learners don't need a Vidext account or a second login, and their completion and score go back to the LMS.

Connections are set up by organization admins in Settings → LMS integrations.

Connect an LMS

Choose Add integration and pick your LMS: Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, Cornerstone, or Another LTI 1.3 LMS. Each one is described with the field names its own setup screen uses.

Installations and what they can open

Each place your LMS installs Vidext is an Installation, identified by its Installation ID (Deployment ID). For each installation you choose:

  • Content to share — All teams, or specific teams. The installation can open the live modules (the versions learners get) of the published courses assigned to those teams. A module stops opening as soon as it stops being live: its course unpublished, or the module withdrawn. See Publish a course.
  • Let teachers choose a Vidext module — lets course builders in the LMS pick a live module (Select a Vidext module → Add to LMS) and save it as an activity.
  • Allow access from this installation — pause access without deleting the installation.

On the connection itself, Allow launches from this LMS stops new launches without deleting anything, and Delete connection removes it with its installations and history.

Check the connection

The connection has four tabs: Connection details, Installations, Setup guide, and Usage history. Check your connection lists the steps to confirm it works: open Vidext from an LMS course, choose content from the LMS, then open the saved item. Usage history shows the recent login attempts, launches, and saved module selections as they happen, which makes first-setup debugging fast.

Progress and grades reach your gradebook

Vidext reports back over AGS (Assignment and Grade Services, part of LTI 1.3), so a Vidext activity behaves like any graded item in the LMS course:

  • Completion — the activity reads as in progress while the learner works through the module, and complete once they finish it.
  • A quiz grade — sent once the module is complete, computed from the version the learner opened. The first answer to each question is the one that counts, so a second pass can't inflate the grade.

Reporting is on by default for each installation. Its Learner progress status reads Waiting for progress until the first learner works through a module, then Progress verified once the LMS has accepted a score. Progress needs attention means the LMS refused it — usually because AGS isn't enabled, the score scope isn't granted, or there is no HTTPS line-item URL. Progress reporting off means Vidext sends nothing for that installation.

What learners see

Learners click the activity in their LMS and the module opens with its narration, subtitles, and quizzes. There is no link back to the LMS inside the module; learners return with their LMS's own navigation. See What a module looks like.

SAP SuccessFactors and Workday

SAP SuccessFactors Learning and Workday Learning appear in LMS integrations as Restricted pilot. They can't send content or results yet; talk to us if you need one of them.
