Roles and permissions
Organization and team roles, and what each can do.
Access in Vidext is role-based at two levels: the organization and each team. The same rules are enforced everywhere — in the app, and for AI agents operating over MCP.
Organization roles
| Role | What it means |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full control: members, teams, courses, settings, billing, and all content in the organization. |
| Member | The building role: creates and edits modules and courses across the organization, with access to the creator dashboard and operator chat. |
| Learner | Consumes assigned learning only. Signs in to a focused learning home listing the courses assigned to their teams — no creator dashboard, no authoring tools, no agent connections. |
| Requester | Someone who has asked to join and is awaiting approval. No access until an admin approves. |
Organization admins automatically have admin rights in every team.
How invited people get a role
A team Learner invitation creates an organization Learner. A team Admin invitation creates an organization Member, then grants team-management rights. Content authors who do not manage a team should be added as organization Members and hold the team Learner role when assigned to a team.
Team roles

| Admin | Manages team settings, members, invitations, and course assignment. |
| Learner | Learns: accesses published modules from courses assigned to the team. |
How this plays out
- Who can build content? Organization admins and members can build throughout their organization. Team roles do not grant authoring. Organization learners never reach the creator dashboard.
- Who can see a module? Learners get access through their team's course assignments — see Enrollments. Organization admins and members see the full module library.
- Who can manage people? Org admins manage organization membership and approve join requests; team admins manage their team's roster.
- Drafts are private. A module's draft is visible to the people building it, never to learners — learners only ever see the published version.
Same rules for AI agents
When someone connects an AI assistant to Vidext, the assistant acts as that person, in one organization, with exactly these permissions — nothing more. See Authentication for agents.
